Dr. Silvia Vannuncini Florence, ITALY
She is a Consultant at University Careggi Hospital in Florence, Italy. She has been trained at the University of Siena as a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She worked as a clinical research fellow in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Oxford. During her PhD program, she focused her interest on uterine disorders (endometriosis, adenomyosis, and uterine fibroids), imaging diagnosis, and medical management, attending centers of Excellence for Endometriosis and Adenomyosis (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) Cochin, Service de Gynécologie Obstétrique et Médecine de la Réproduction, Paris, France; KU Leuven, UZ Leuven - Gynecology Ultrasound Unit (Leuven, Belgium). Her scientific interest is devoted to women’s health, from pre-conception to pregnancy. She is interested in how uterine disorders and related endometrial and myometrial abnormalities may influence placental function and thus pregnancy development and outcome. She is investigating endometriosis, adenomyosis, and uterine fibroids from both the basic science (pathogenetic pathways and mediators) and the clinical (ultrasound diagnosis and comorbidities) point of view. She regularly attends scientific meetings as an invited speaker, in the field of Benign Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. She is the author or co- author of more than 70 peer-reviewed papers published in indexed scientific journals and book chapters in international books in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
